In this lesson, let's talk about the essential equipment you will need at the grilling station.


When grilling skewered meat or vegetables, there are two types of skewers you may need, based on durability or versatility.


Round Bamboo Skewers
Bamboo Skewers are good for inexperienced grillers. They are easy to use, cheap, and biodegradeable.


Round Bamboo Skewers
However, be careful when skewing the food with this.
They are quite sharp and breakable!
They can't also handle very high heat, which might make de-skewering hard.


Flat Metal Skewers
In terms of longevity and durability, these are the best for skewering.
Moreover, as a heat conductor, it ensures that the food is cooked all throughout.


Grill Light
Shed some light on your food while you cook!
This is especially a must when your grilling station is situated somewhere obscure.


Fire Extinguisher
You're working with fuel and fire, it's very likely for accidents to happen!
Make sure that you have a fire extinguisher at a close distance in case of emergency.

Turn on both plates using the Selector Switch and set the thermostat to  180°C.
Upon turning the thermostat, the pilot lights will light up, indicating that the grill is heating.

Once the amber pilot lights turn off, that indicates that the grill has reached your desired temperature.


Step 4
Now, you may wipe off the excess oil from the plates with kitchen towels.
Be careful with this step! The plates are expected to be hot.

Grilling Efficiency
Regular cleaning avoids carbon build-up.
These build-ups will reduce the heat transfer from the plate to the food, thereby making the grill inefficient.

Start cleaning the plates at the end of the day.
Make sure that the machine is turned off but the plates are still warm.

Create a mixture of warm water and dishwashing liquid.
Use this to clean the plates with a soft cloth or sponge.

If you use metal scrapers or spatulas to clean the plates, do it carefully. Only do this for stubborn residue.

Once you've cleaned the plates to the point that it's shiny, remember to season it before using them again.

If you're dealing with a hard-to-clean oven with a lot of carbon build-up, apply a non-caustic cleaner to the oven and leave it for 30 seconds before wiping.

Ensure that all residue is wiped off.

Remove the grates and soak them in a mixture of hot water and dishwasher soap.
Do the same with the barriers of the grill.
Thoroughly brush the interior of the grill. Leave the grease, it will serve as a protective layer to the metal.
Fire up the grill and observe the fire.
**If the fire is uneven, clean the burners. **
Remove the dirty burners and use a small wire to clean the ports.
Afterward, tap the burners on each side to remove all debris.
Once finished, put the burner back and fire up the grill.
Repeat this step until your flames are even.
If the fire is even, continue with step 5.
Clean or replace the grease drip pan.
Close the grill and wash its exterior like how you would wash a car.
Dry out the grills and barriers and assemble the inside of the grill.
Fire up the grill to evaporate all remaining liquid inside it.
If you're tasked to pack the grill away, disconnect the gas supply and remove the propane tank.
Put the propane tank in a safe, ventilated area and cover the gas grill.
