If you have a good SWPPP in place, this may only need to be done once or twice a year.


Look up your state's requirements to better track the results and reports of your facility according to the state's compliance.


Facilities must also do routine inspections to make sure that control measures are still effective and followed accordingly.


This is where a proper audit of inspection forms and their copies will help in your facility's checks and balances.

In this lesson, we will discuss how to develop an SWPPP.


Inspections, Maintenance, and Recordkeeping


✓ It is important that all workers are involved with the SWPPPs so they can be trained properly on how to do the BMPs.


✓ The workers must constantly inspect and maintain the site to keep sediment away from leaving the job site.


✓ With these in mind, the SWPPP Planner must detail how inspections and maintenance of BMPs are developed.


✓ This includes indicating each worker's roles, the frequency of inspection, how they can dispose of sediment cleared from BMPs, and discerning when to report for an immediate inspection.


✓ In addition, the planner must also indicate the format for recordkeeping, especially with inspection reports, maintenance reports, and non-stormwater discharges.
